Data from the first study exploring the association between erectile dysfunction (ED) and COVID-19 in young men in a real-life setting suggest that COVID-19 heightens the risk of developing ED by about six times.
According to the preliminary data, ED is a marker of increased susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Men with ED have over 5 times greater odds of having COVID-19 (odds ratio [OR] = 5.27). Furthermore, for men with a history of COVID-19, the OR of developing ED was found to be 5.66. The study was published in Andrology.
